About Me

Dustin Taylor

I'm Dustin, a Product Designer based out of Salt Lake City.

I've always had an appreciation for quality design, art and people. I enjoy solving problems, simplicity, and creating. Driven by these passions I've found positions in various fields leading me to a career in Product Design and Development. I've worked as a visual designer, web and UI designer, and front end developer. I even spent some time as a kitchen designer, which oddly enough is where I first became interested in user experience.

My process.

Everyone has their own idea of what the perfect product design process should look like and most are similar. I continually refine my process through a few key ideals.

Keep your eye on the prize.

It is easy to get side-tracked and lost in the weeds as you make your way through a large project. Keeping the problem up front and in focus helps me to remember the bigger picture as I work through the solution.

Design for function.

I love simple, easy to use products that provide the best user experience while maintaining a consistent clean design.

Question everything.

I question the purpose of everything while I work through a project. I want to fully understand the problem to actualize the best user experience.

Collaboration is key.

No one person has the best idea, however, everyone together does. Working through concepts and designs with product managers, developers, and stake holders we can create the best solution.

With my free time I play video games, binge Netflix, find new delicious places to eat and try to not suck so much at cooking. I love beer, hanging with my dog, buying more hats and jackets I don't need and of course... technology: new phones, laptops, tablets and anything else that is shiny.
